Vasilis Zisimopoulos is a Mechanical Engineer, owner of the Technical Office "AELIA Sustainable Engineering" and CEO - Founder of the multi-awarded startup company Costa Nostrum which was awarded as one of the 5 best companies worldwide by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in "Innovation and digitization for island destinations" category.
He holds two Master's degrees "Energy and Sustainable Development" and "Environmental Conservation and Management" while completing his 3rd master's program "Integrated Coastal Area Management", from the University of the Aegean, Greece.
He was a key co-organizer and member of the Scientific Committee of the 8th International Symposium on Sandy Beaches. He has been a mentor in 3 organizations, Blue Prototype by TEE, Prince's Trust International Enterprise Program and Climathon – Heraklion.
He is one of the 3 representatives of Greece, in the EU program, Mission Ocean & Waters, following a proposal from HCMR and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology.
Since 2007, he has been a member of the standing environmental committee of the TEE - TAK and is a member of the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association (HSWMA). He was a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), from which he was awarded the title of International Waste Manager – Advanced Status.
Finally, he has participated as a speaker in several international scientific conferences on the Environment, Recycling, Sustainability, and sustainable beach management.
